Call for Papers for 2025 Special Issue:
Marking the 115th Anniversary of L.N. Tolstoy’s Death: The Universal Legacy of an Author Beyond Boundaries
Special Issue Editor: Prof. Dr. Bahar Güneş
Introduction
Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy (1828–1910) is widely recognised as one of the foremost figures in both world and Russian literature, retaining enduring relevance through the universal themes addressed in his oeuvre. This special issue, prepared in commemoration of the 115th anniversary of his death, aims to critically examine Tolstoy’s language, literary corpus, philosophical discourses and psychological analyses through an interdisciplinary framework. In so doing, it is anticipated that the writer’s rich legacy will be scrutinised in a manner that yields a multifaceted resource for academic inquiry, both within Türkiye and on the international stage.
Content
Despite the passage of 115 years since Tolstoy’s death, the sustained scholarly engagement with his work indicates the enduring relevance of his universally significant oeuvre and the importance of those aspects that lend themselves to in-depth analysis. Addressing a wide array of subjects—such as family, women, morality, love, religion, politics, philosophy and society—Tolstoy offers a fertile ground for scholarly inquiry from diverse academic disciplines. In this context, it is anticipated that multifaceted contributions from fields including literature, sociology, linguistics, theology, philosophy and psychology will further enrich Tolstoy studies at both national and international levels.
